Lower wisdom teeth (third molars) Used for dental extraction (also referred to as tooth extraction, exodontia or exodontics): the removal of teeth from the dental alveolus (socket) in the alveolar bone. Special shape to allow an easy and safe extraction even when the patient is unable to fully open the mouth. The forceps must be positioned between tooth # 7 and # 8. After checking if the dental arch is complete evaluate if tooth # 7 is healthy as it is often decayed. Squeeze the handles of the forceps while tilting them simultaneously, the tooth #8 will be levered out presenting the root in the distal position (as you will be able to verify through an x-ray image).
